In-12 (195 x 145 mm), 24 pp, blue morocco decorated with gilt fleur-de-lys, spine similarly decorated, gilt edges, interior lace, lining and endpapers of blue paper decorated with gilt fleur-de-lys; some slight rubbing to binding (Period binding).
Charming calligraphic, illuminated and gold-embellished book of hours on vellum, executed for Mademoiselle Madeleine Fouqueray.
Following the aesthetic of 14th-century manuscripts, it features an illuminated title, a depiction of Saint Michael slaying the Dragon, a full-page Annunciation, and 16 pp. of prayers decorated with 22 illuminated initials and ornaments featuring a depiction of Saint Louis, various coats of arms and a dragon. The work continues with the Litanies de la Saint Vierge (2 pp.), with a full-page illustration of Mary Magdalene washing Christ's feet.
