“Germany, as fertile as France in amateurs of all kinds, is the theater where I present the pieces of my pen [...]. My works with a pen, having made me known in several German courts, and to various princes & lords whom I have had the honor of teaching in the Art of writing, & the success with which I have trained several pupils having established my reputation, I will not flaunt my talents in this genre [...],” states Berny de Nogent in the introduction to his Atlas.
