[TYPOGRAPHY]

Semainier typographique 1889. Fonderie Turlot.

Paris, 1889.

Flap portfolio, in-8 (225 x 180 mm), 53 ff. (of 54), brown percaline, gilt title to front cover and spine; some soiling and creasing to a few leaves, one leaf missing (Publisher’s binding).

Very rare and beautiful typographic production by Valentin Cournichoux (1854-1894).
This was not Cournichoux's first foray into typography, as the Annuaire de l'Imprimerie (1894) reports that in 1884 he won first prize in the Berthier competition for a typographic calendar.

This copy features a general title, a title for the second half of the year and 51 (out of 52) letterpress compositions in numerous colors, with some gilded or silvered elements.

Only one copy is known to exist in France, in the Bibliothèque municipale de Dijon.
