Broadside for L’École des femmes at the Théâtre de l’Athénée.
Paris, impr. Harfort, 1946.
570 x 405 mm, gilt frame (695 x 517 mm), some rubbing.
Very rare poster announcing the revival of L'École de femmes at the Théâtre de l'Athénée (1946) “for the debut of Mademoiselle Dominique Blanchar”.
Louis Jouvet, who played Arnolphe, starred Dominique Blanchar as Agnès.
This poster is Dominique Blanchar's, framed and carefully preserved by her. It was hung in her dressing room during early performances.
Attached are four photographs (240 x 181 mm) showing the actress in the dressing rooms of the Théâtre de l'Athénée getting ready for the premiere of the play. They are stamped on the back “Exclusivité Paris-Matin”, and are contained in an envelope marked “Préparatifs Minou pour ses débuts : 24 juin 1946”.
Two of the shots show this famous poster in the background.
