Portefeuille in-12 oblong (140 x 185 mm), long-grained red morocco, gilt flower frieze, mention Offert à Melle Sophie Papegay par Lysias de Momigny, green paper endpapers, in leaves, booklet of 5 double sheets of embossed music paper; binding and corners rubbed, missing the headpieces (Susse Papetier de S.A.R. le Duc de Berry).
Charming music manuscript given by Henri Lysias de Momigny (b. 1797) to his future wife Sophie Papeguay (b. 1794).
It consists of 20 pages of embossed music paper, 9 of which bear compositions in black ink and 5 are enhanced in color.
In 1819, the young Henri Lysias de Momigny was second lieutenant in the bodyguards of H.R.H. Monsieur, the future Charles X. He married Mademoiselle de Momigny in 1822. In 1822, he married Mademoiselle Sophie Papegay, to whom this volume is dedicated. Son of musician and music theorist Jérôme-Joseph de Momigny (1762-1842), he composed the music for two musical pieces with lyrics by Marceline Desbordes-Valmore: Blanche et Rose! and Les Reproches!
